How ThreadStack works

Everything you need to know — how to get your data, what each tab shows, and how to track unfollowers over time.

Step 1 — Get your Threads data

Open the Threads app on your phone

Tap your profile picture at the bottom right of the screen to go to your profile page.

Go to Settings → Account → Download your information

Tap the ☰ menu icon at the top right of your profile → Settings → Account → Download your information.

Select Threads and choose JSON format

Scroll down until you see the Threads section (not Instagram — they are separate). Select it, then choose JSON as the format. Do not select HTML.

💡 You can choose a date range. Select "All time" for your first upload to get the most complete data. For weekly tracking, select just the past 7 days.

Request the download and wait for Meta's email

Tap "Request a download". Meta will email you a download link — usually within a few minutes, sometimes up to an hour.

Download the ZIP and find your files

Click the link in Meta's email to download a ZIP file. Unzip it on your device. Inside you will find a folder called threads containing several JSON files. You need:

  • followers.json — everyone who follows you on Threads
  • following.json — everyone you follow on Threads

Upload the two files to ThreadStack

Go to your dashboard → click "Upload data" in the sidebar → under Threads, upload followers.json and following.json separately. Click Analyse — results appear instantly.

Step 2 — Get your Instagram data

Open Instagram → Profile → Menu → Settings

Tap your profile picture → tap the ☰ menu → Settings → Accounts Center.

Your information and permissions → Download your information

Select "Followers and following" → choose JSON format → Request download. Meta emails you a link.

Upload followers_1.json to ThreadStack

Download the file Meta sends you. Upload followers_1.json to the Instagram section in your ThreadStack dashboard.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the number of followers in ThreadStack differ from my live Threads count?
Meta's data export includes historical records — accounts that have since been deactivated, deleted, or changed usernames are still included in the export. ThreadStack reads exactly what Meta provides. The live Threads count only shows currently active accounts.
Is my follower data sent to ThreadStack's servers?
No. Your follower data is processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript. It is never uploaded to or stored on our servers. The only data we store is your account email, plan status, and affiliate info — never your follower lists.
How do I see who doesn't follow me back?
Upload your followers.json and following.json files (Threads) or followers_1.json + following.json (Instagram). ThreadStack calculates the difference instantly — no comparison needed. Results appear on your first upload.
What is recently_unfollowed_profiles.json?
This file contains people YOU recently unfollowed — not people who unfollowed you. ThreadStack does not use this file for unfollower calculations. You can ignore it or upload it to see who you recently unfollowed yourself.
Does ThreadStack work for Instagram too?
Yes — upload your followers_1.json from Instagram's data export to see your Instagram non-followers and unfollowers. Both platforms are included in every plan, including the free plan.
What does the free plan include?
The free plan shows your top 5 results in each category — unfollowers, non-followers, and new followers. Upgrade to Pro to see the full list of every name, export to CSV, and access the analytics and audience health tracker.
Can I cancel my Pro subscription?
Yes — cancel anytime directly from your PayPal account. You keep Pro access until the end of your current billing period. There are no cancellation fees.
Does ThreadStack require my Threads or Instagram password?
Never. ThreadStack uses the official Meta data export — you download your own data directly from Threads or Instagram and upload it here. No passwords, no API access, no account connections required.
